Dining Table
The customer had a pretty rough idea of what she wanted, but could not find anything she really loved.
We exchanged some ideas and I got to the drawing board.
The result was a 240x100cm table top with a steel base.
The table top is composed of 240cm long and 40mm thick solid European oak boards with invisible L-profile framing on the underside to ensure flatness over time.
It's been finished with a 2K-oil to bring out the distinct drawing in the wood, as you can see in the last picture.
The table base is a custom design, using 80x50x3mm TIG-welded steel tubing.
The table base has been finished with a fine but extremely tough structural black powder coat.
Floor protection has been added underneath to avoid scratching the stone floor tiles: the entire table weighs approximately 143 kg!

Coat hanger with shelving
The customer had a bit of a dead space in her hallway. In addition, the fuse box of the apartment and the internet modem was installed here.
The goal was to build a coat hanger around it to camouflage the fuse box and modem. A bit of brainstorming made her decide on adding some shelving. This way, it would be visually more appealing and give room to store shoes, handbags and the like.
The big beam is 12x10cm construction grade European oak, finished with 2K oil for visual enhancement of the wild wood grain. This wild grain, cracks and knots included, is why we opted for construction grade lumber.
The shelves are form-fitted rubberwood, supported by 3mm thick mild steel brackets.
The coat hanger itself is made from 30x30x3mm mild steel with a matte black powder coat finish.

Two lounge benches: custom order.
The customer provided a rough drawing to illustrate what they wanted. The idea was to have a seating area on a small terrace in a private home.
Because space was limited, they wanted the pieces to double as sunbeds without any adjustments.
In addition, the interior of the home was aesthetically quite particular and the pieces had to blend in well, so careful selection of materials was of key importance.
Each of the benches measure 205cm x 84cm x 60cm, with the seating being only 14cm off the ground.
The frame is TIG-welded 60x60mm square mild steel tubing with a matte-black all-season powder coat.
The seating consists of 12cm wide Ipé boards with a satin polyurethane coating, rubbed and polished for a nice and smooth feel.

Custom bed legs and matching bedside tables.
The client purchased a new, built-to-spec bed. Unfortunately, the adjustable legs were too tall to fit the bed under the roof of the bedroom.
Measurements were taken and new legs were built, along with matching bedside-tables. The legs are made from laminated beech and fitted with gliding pads to prevent damage to the floor.
The bedside tables are made to be as tall as the bedframe and mattress, and fitted with two electrical sockets to charge phones and the like.
I used European red oak for the case and drawer and steamed beech for the drawer front.
Note the dovetail joinery!
